PicoSure FAQ’s Part 2
Common Questions answered by Dr. Shire on Laser Tattoo Removal continued..
How many treatments will be needed to treat my tattoo?
It is difficult to predict, but a range of 5-10 treatments is usually a good estimate. The colors in the tattoo will make a difference, as well as how the tattoo was applied, the volume of ink used, what type of material was used for the color, and what part of the body was tattooed.
Can very dark skin types be treated with the PicoSure laser?
The PicoSure laser is FDA approved for skin types that are light to medium in color. Darker skin types have more of a risk of scarring and skin pigmentation changes (either lighter or darker). Each patient needs to be personally evaluated.
How long does each treatment take and how often are the treatments done?
Individual treatments can vary depending on the size and can take anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. The treatments can be done about every 4-6 weeks. It takes that time for your body to remove the tiny ink particles.
I had my tattoo treated with other tattoo removal lasers, but still can see a “ghost” image. Can the PicoSure work better?
The PicoSure is the best tattoo removal laser, and can be used on tattoos previously treated by another laser, usually with great success.
What is the cost of tattoo removal with the PicoSure laser?
Remember that it take only half the number of treatments, so even if each individual tattoo treatment with the PicoSure laser is more expensive than an individual treatment with another laser, the overall total cost to remove the tattoo is about the same or even a little less. And don’t forget that you are getting the most technically advanced treatment in the world with the best possible results.
